HATs is free. It's a growing network of adventure motorcycle routes across Cyprus, available to anyone who wants to ride them.
It currently contains more than 2,100 km of interconnected riding, and we're still adding to it.
Bring your own motorcycle, rent one somewhere else or ride with Horizon Rider. It doesn't matter.
We've ridden the routes ourselves, made the mistakes, deleted the mediocre and kept the bits we think are worth riding.
Sometimes that took one attempt.
Sometimes considerably more.
BUILT FOR ADVENTURE BIKES
HATs is designed primarily for adventure and dual-sport motorcycles.
That means everything from straightforward gravel and forest roads to rocky climbs, technical trails and sections where stopping for a moment and having a quiet word with yourself is entirely reasonable.
We grade the trails based on our own experience and flag places where we think extra care is worthwhile.
Those grades are guidance, not guarantees. Conditions change, weather changes trails and riders have very different ideas about what constitutes “easy”.
You always make the final decision.
We've occasionally got that decision wrong ourselves.
There have been bruises, broken clutch levers and the odd broken bone while putting the network together.
Or, as we generally describe it:

IT ISN'T A SEVEN-DAY ROUTE
This is one of the important differences with HATs.
The network isn't designed to tell you where you have to ride each day.
Routes intersect.
So you can start on one trail, reach a junction and continue on another. That lets you change the length, difficulty or direction of the day as you go.
Want an easy mountain loop? Fine.
Want to head towards the coast? Fine.
Want to make the day considerably harder than originally planned?
Also fine.
That's why HATs works particularly well with Horizon Rider's self-guided approach.
You don't follow our itinerary because there isn't one.
THERE'S MORE THAN JUST THE TRAIL
We've also marked places we think are worth knowing about along the way.
Viewpoints. Historic sites. Villages. Swimming spots. Restaurants. Places to stop for a photograph, a coffee or lunch.
Some are significant.
Some are simply places we've found and liked.
Either way, they're here if you want them.
RIDING WITH HORIZON RIDER?
HATs is already part of your week.
The network is loaded onto the navigation system on your motorcycle before you arrive, so there's nothing else you need to download or prepare.
We'll explain how the network works, help you understand the route grading and point you towards sections that suit the sort of riding you're looking for.
After that, it's up to you.
